Master Cleanse

Sorry, my picture post today is not of an exciting Chicago landmark, or of my new, yet unfurnished apartment, nor even of the beautiful sunset that I saw a few nights ago. No, today you are witness to my latest personal project - attempting my first Master Cleanse.

Thank you Whole Foods for being the one stop shop for all the necessary ingredients. I have my grade B maple syrup, I have my lemons, I have my organic cayenne pepper, and I have my sea salt. 14 days, here I come.

If you would like to track my success, you will find regular entries on the topic at my 43things.com profile.

Road Trip: Nebraska Sunrise

I stopped in Nebraska, the great land of flatness and corn, and slept for about 6 hours. When I wokeup and hit the road, the sun came out to greet me.

Unfortunately this was the last picture I took. There was nothing of interest in the rest of Nebraska, or Iowa, or Illinois for that matter. I should have taken a picture of the Mississippi river, but I was all the way across it before I realized I should reach for my camera. Oh well, next trip. Hope you enjoyed them.

Road Trip: Even More Wyoming

See how flat Wyoming gets the farther east you go? Of course, I had to stop and take pictures of that excellent sunset. Ignore the flat landscape.

Road Trip: More Wyoming

Wyoming has great rocks! Well, at least the western half.

Road Trip: Wyoming

Wyoming started off very promising. Gun shops, strip joints, Sonic, and Fireworks stands. Maybe these red states aren't so bad after all.

This picture below represents my first taste of the "endless road to nowhere". I wouldn't be the last.

For the picture below, two words: "define irony"

Road Trip: Eastern Utah

Utah was quite the surprise. If you asked me last week what I thought of Utah I would have said "mormons". Ask me now, you'll get a completely different answer.

Road Trip: Salt Lake City

If I could do the trip over, I would stop in Salt Lake City and roam around a bit. I drove through at lunch time, ditched a Utah State Trooper who had tagged me with radar, and I was hot to get out of town at that point. This pic was taken leading up to the Rocky Mountains.

Road Trip: Utah Salt Flats

I had no idea how vast the Utah Salt Flats were. That looks like water, but it's salt. Miles and miles of salt.

Road Trip: Eastern Nevada

All of these were taken out of the driver's side window while I was cruising down the highway. Think talking on your cell phone while driving is dangerous?

California to Chicago Part 1

This is the start of the pictures I took on my 43 hour road trip from California to Chicago. I left around 2am, so I didn't get to take any pictures until the next morning. These are somewhere in Nevada, east of Reno.

San Francisco to Chicago in 48 Hours

Leaving Sunday July 2 at midnight, I will attempt to drive to Chicago in 48 hours. If successful, I will take many pictures and post them here. Wish me luck.
